Welcome to Data Lake’s second quarterly update of 2024! With this update, we are proud to announce that we have officially completed all our priorities as well as iterating tasks for the past quarter! Among the most important achievements are the Launch of the Testnet of the Data Lake Chain with more than one important partnership signed, as well as several improvements to our Patients Recruitment App and an expansion of our Marketing and Business Development efforts. 🗓 Where were we?
After launching our Application on February 28th, we realized that our on-chain activity of consent collection needed a customized environment to scale better and meet our stakeholders’ needs. We then decided to launch the Data Lake Chain, accompanied by an ambitious roadmap that aimed to have it live on Testnet by June, alongside several other parallel achievements.
🚀 The Data Lake Chain is Live on the Mokotow Testnet!
June 27th, 2024, marked a historical date for Data Lake’s journey to drive the the largest implementation of blockchain in healthcare, as the Data Lake Chain went live on Public Testnet!
The Testnet is named after Mokotow, the vibrant neighborhood of Warsaw where our office is located. Connecting to the Data Lake Mokotow Testnet is straightforward and familiar to anyone who has used an EVM network: simply visit our block explorer built on Blockscout at https://explorer.data-lake.co, scroll down, and click the “Add Data Lake Mokotow Testnet” button on the left!
Once done, you can claim mLAKE testnet tokens through a Faucet at https://faucet.data-lake.co/ and send transactions to test the scalability and reliability of the Chain.
In the first 5 days since launch, the Data Lake Chain already flawlessly supported the execution of 3 million transactions, with more than 60 contracts have been deployed, including 36 ERC-20 Tokens!
🤝 Built on Arbitrum
The Data Lake Chain leverages Arbitrum Orbit, a permissionless framework for launching customizable dedicated rollups developed by Arbitrum, one of the leading Ethereum Layer 2 solutions. We chose Arbitrum to ensure scalability and uphold the highest blockchain security standards provided by Ethereum, aligning with our goal to drive innovation in decentralized consent management. The Arbitrum Foundation has also agreed to distribute a grant to Data Lake to bootstrap this initiative. More info on the grant will be shared soon on our social media channels, so stay tuned!
🔬 We have partnered with Sanofi Poland to launch a registry for a rare disease called ASMD!
On June 11th, Data we announced our partnership with Sanofi Polska, a leader in the pharmaceutical industry. The aim of this partnership is to create the first patient registry in Poland for the rare disease ASMD (Acid Sphingomyelinase Deficiency) based on patient consent. ASMD is an ultra-rare genetic disorder characterized by the accumulation of sphingomyelin in cells, leading to damage to internal organs such as the liver, spleen, and lungs.
For those who are unfamiliar with the healthcare world, Sanofi is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in Poland according to the national ranking IQVIA Poland. The group has a production plant in Rzeszów and a distribution center in Błonie near Warsaw. Sanofi is listed on the Paris and New York stock exchanges: EURONEXT: SAN and NASDAQ: SNY
✅ Data Lake Application: Improved!
We’ve listened to our stakeholders’ feedback: this quarter’s achievements include significant improvements to our Patients Recruitment Application, available at https://app.data-lake.co/ . From an improved On-Chain Consent Management and the Consents Smart Contract, the development of the “Operations” and “Notifications” tabs, and In-App Search, to new features and optimizations like a revamped UI, multiple surveys, older versions made available, and over 100 bugs fixed, the new App better reflects our stakeholders’ needs and is easier to use for researchers, clinics, and patients.

💥 Web3 Partnership and Marketing
Data Lake’s presence within DeSci and the Web3 landscape grew dramatically over the past 3 months. We partnered with new DeSci entities, expanded our social media presence, and were featured in several events and interviews with notable names in the space. Here’s a quick recap:

Data Lake has been awarded as the 2023 Startup of the Year in Warsaw, Poland, by none other than HackerNoon!
Our team attended DeSci Berlin, Consensus in Austin, Texas, and ETH Prague, engaging with fellow innovators and building new connections in the DeSci landscape.
