We have reached an agreement with the first Data Provider graphics Data Lake

It is with great pride that we hereby announce that a Medical Entity affiliated under one of the most prominent medical universities in Europe has formally signed an agreement to become our first Data Provider. This is a huge and very crucial step towards building a global network of Data Providers!

Data Lake is a complete ecosystem rather than a singular flow of data, and the fact that new medical entities are enthusiastically embracing our values and joining our mission is yet another strong sign that the time has come to unlock medical data for scientific research and progress. This milestone is another of many sources of motivation for the whole team to keep working towards building a global medical data donation scheme.

Who stores your medical data? Introducing Data Providers

Although they are the legitimate owners of their medical data, patients are not the ones who actually store it electronically; hospitals and laboratories do.

These hospitals and laboratories – generally referred to under the name of “Data Providers“ – are indeed obliged by law to store patients’ medical data for years. However, this duty currently represents a burden for them, as they incur several different kinds of costs and risks, and they don’t currently have a transparent and scalable solution to get consent from the owners of the data (patients) in order to unlock the potential value.

Data Lake fixes this.

Our system empowers individuals with the possibility of donating their medical data simply by signing a transaction on the blockchain. This allows them to contribute to progress in medical research while being rewarded for doing so. Once we collect a patient’s consent, we request their medical data from their Data Provider in a safe, transparent, and automated manner. Collecting data directly from the responsible medical entities means we don’t have to rely on any other intermediary, cuts costs, and ensures that the data is correct and not manipulated in any way.

The Data Providers will also be reimbursed for the costs that they incur when plugging into the Data Lake System, keeping the ecosystem sustainable and rewarding every stakeholder involved for their contribution.

Data Providers are crucial for enabling the new market of medical data and – for the reasons described above – they are among the Primary Market Players of Data Lake’s ecosystem.

Quarterly Update: Expanding the Data Lake Ecosystem & Powering the Future of DeSci

As we move deeper into 2025, Data Lake continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in decentralized science. This quarter has been one of product expansion, platform launches, and strategic partnerships that lay a powerful foundation for the future of research and innovation. Here’s a recap of the most important milestones we’ve achieved:   🧬 The Launch of the Patient Registries Builder We are proud to unveil a new flagship product in the Data Lake ecosystem: the Patient Registries Builder. Built in direct response to the needs of our clients, this proprietary technology enables fast, compliant, and efficient creation of patient registries—a process that typically requires months of legal reviews, technical development, and manual coordination. Our Registry Builder simplifies and automates the process through a smart, modular framework, allowing stakeholders in our ecosystem to: ✅ Create medical interventions tailored to any therapeutic area or indication ✅ Deploy front-ends for analyst interaction ✅ Leverage the Data Lake Chain for secure and transparent consent storage ✅ Ensure GDPR and HIPAA compliance of Consents by design Whether it’s a pharma partner launching a rare disease registry, a researcher collecting real-world data, or a DeSci DAO engaging a patient community, our Registry Builder

The First Project on LAKE.fun Has Officially Launched!

We’re thrilled to announce that the first-ever project on LAKE.fun has just launched today, at 2 PM CET! This marks an important step forward in decentralized, community-driven science, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. The first project, in collaboration with MedMetrix, is focused on improving the AI-powered dermatological analysis tool, paving the way for more accessible, accurate, and innovative healthcare solutions.   About the Project Aim The inaugural project aims to enhance the capabilities of the tools provided on the MedMetrix platform, which uses an AI algorithm (EU certified software as a medical device) to analyze over 73 skin conditions with just a smartphone photo. Research participants will contribute their data for the further development of the platform and new tools/algorithms. Read more about the science behind the technology here: Using Artificial Intelligence as a Diagnostic Decision Support Tool in Skin Disease: Protocol for an Observational Prospective Cohort Study – PubMed A guide to deep learning in healthcare – PubMed Rewards  Each participant will receive free analysis of their skin lesions with the use of a certified medical AI algorithm (market value up to 30 EUR).  All the participants who finish the research pathway using
