With the launch of the Data Lake Chain, we are set to redefine the possibilities of blockchain, ushering in a new era of scalability and providing specifically tailored services to meet the unique demands of healthcare institutions, and the DeSci ecosystem, to facilitate their onboarding.

Understanding Rollups: Enhancing Scalability and Customizability
Layer 1 blockchains like Ethereum have always struggled to achieve scalability, decentralization, and security all at the same time. This trilemma has haunted blockchain developers for a long time, until in the last couple of years a powerful solution has emerged: Rollups. There are many kinds of Rollups, each with its own underlying technology, but their common factor is that they batch transactions together and transmit only their proof on the Layer 1, achieving scalability without sacrificing security and decentralization, both guaranteed by the underlying blockchain.
Nowadays, Rollups represent the most scalable environment to build on. At Data Lake, we recognized the untapped potential of these solutions and are determined to build our own Rollup Chain, the Data Lake Chain, to provide the go-to blockchain solution for all DeSci, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and AI institutions worldwide.
For those reasons, Data Lake Chain will be instrumental in achieving our most important ambition – the biggest implementation of blockchain in healthcare, science, and AI, ever.
Introducing: the Data Lake Chain
There are at least three reasons why we are launching our own Data Lake Chain in Q2 2024:

Scalability: lightning-fast transactions at a fraction of the cost. Data Lake is expanding, and quickly: we have already processed thousands of consents-related transactions on-chain, and since we made available our patients recruitment Application to the public (more about it here), we are witnessing an important increase in the number of consents processed daily. So far, Data Lake has relied on Polygon network testnet for each consent, but the model isn’t sustainable in the long term as we keep expanding our operations and throughput. By deploying our App on the Data Lake Chain, we, and partners and customers using our chain, will be capable of processing data of millions of patients per month, all within a sustainable environment powered by the $LAKE token that will allow us to keep the costs at a fraction of the current ones. Not only Data Lake App, scalability and accessibility is also key for DeSci adoption by researchers, medical doctors, patients, as well as by the large healthcare and pharma companies. Adoption: a blockchain suited for science, healthcare and AI. The Data Lake Chain will provide a perfectly compliant environment for healthcare institutions. These institutions will be empowered with the possibility to run their own nodes and store data on premise, reclaiming control over data and ensuring access and proper retention.

A new use case for the LAKE token! As the lifeblood of the Data Lake Chain, the $LAKE token is designed to assume a central role in our upcoming Chain. $LAKE will be fueling the network by facilitating transactions and incentivizing network participation. As demand for scalable data solutions surges, $LAKE stands poised to emerge as a cornerstone of the healthcare blockchain ecosystem.

The long-term value proposition
Once launched our Chain and deployed our App on it, we will move on to the next phases of our massive project: onboarding pharmaceutical, healthcare, and AI institutions to the Data Lake Chain and unlock the full potential of DeSci.
In the past years, Data Lake has been pioneering the adoption of blockchain-based tools for healthcare institutions, as we forged collaborations with numerous startups as well as with two of the world’s top 10 pharmaceutical companies. With our Chain, we commit to make an important leap forward in having scientists understand the potential of the blockchain.
Initially, our focus will be onboarding institutions as chain node operators, empowering them to securely manage consents within the Data Lake Chain. Then, as our Chain evolves, so too will their role within the ecosystem, as they will start playing an active role in DeSci and the future of healthcare, leveraging the Data Lake Chain as their digital headquarter for consents management.
