Welcome to our March project update! From IT to BizDev and Marketing, our team has worked tirelessly to make this month one of our best yet! All of the accomplishments that you need to know to stay up to speed with our work are in this update — let’s get started!
💥 Top Headlines:
Three new Data Transfer Agreements Signed!
We are incredibly excited to share that the global data donation scheme has now secured the first THREE framework agreements for the transfer of medical data! We’ll be releasing more details in the near future, but we are very happy to see that global data donation scheme has attracted both large global entities as well as small start-ups. This proves, that access to data is needed across the industry. We’ll share more information as soon as we’re able to but this outcome alone makes the first quarter of the year a complete success!
New hospitals joined global data donation framework
In more exciting news, we are proud to share that 2 more hospitals in Poland have signed the agreement to join the global data donation system! As a reminder for why this is crucial for us, hospitals are one of the most important stakeholders in our system as they are typically the entities storing the data of patients. The more hospitals we integrate with, the more potential data donors we can reach, and in turn the more data we can potentially share with researchers for critical, life-saving research!
The Benefits Panel is Live
More big news this month is that the Data Lake Benefits Panel has been deployed!
The thousands of Data Heroes already signed up will now be able to access the Benefits Panel and claim discount codes for health and wellness benefits. Data donation is primarily an altruistic gesture, but we believe proper recognition is a right thing to do!
This launch is a major milestone for Data Lake as we prepare for the international deployment of the full ecosystem. Click here to read the announcement.

OTC Desk now available
In March, we announced the opening of our in-house OTC Desk. Thanks to the OTC Desk, anyone can now apply to become a large, long-term investor in Data Lake by obtaining vested $LAKE!

Huge kudos to our tech team for launching the benefits panel! But they didn’t stop there — also accomplished in tech this week was smart Contract Security improvements as well as on-chain integration of the Donors’ Benefits points system!

Binance Research and Messari feature Data Lake!
We are beyond excited to have been featured in TWO DeSci reports from some of the biggest names in blockchain! Our first feature was by a name you definitely know; Binance Research — the market research arm of the world’s largest crypto exchange. We’re honored to be one of the few DeSci data projects featured in their report. The second feature was by Messari — one of the leading cryptocurrency research businesses.
Both reports highlight the problems caused by the high degree of centralization in traditional science, and illustrate the opportunities Web3 gives to DeSci projects to overcome them and thrive. Data Lake was highlighted in both reports, confirming its leading role in the movement.

DeSci Monthly and new DeSci Network roundtable event!
We used our fifth issue of our newsletter “DeSci Monthly” to publicly announce the date of the next “DeSci Network” roundtable event! This FREE digital roundtable will include some of the top women in STEM, and will cover their successes and current work, struggles they’ve faced, as well as their advice for women and girls on how they can make the most impact in STEM today (hint: the answer might be DeSci)!

Data Lake as Key Opinion Leader in Medical AI
AI is becoming the clear protagonist of 2023, as it disrupts almost every industry including healthcare! With our aim to become the primary source of ethical medical data for research, we’re also working on securing our place as a key opinion leader in the medical applications of AI.
AI has various uses in the healthcare sector, and it appears that we are on the verge of a future in which it will aid doctors in their decision-making. In one of our most recent blog posts, “Could ChatGPT be your doctor in the future?“, we go into great detail on the subject.
Furthermore, AI and easier access to medical data can help Personalized Medicine become cheaper and thus more accessible to everyone, in a future in which each individual’s genomics will be at the center of disease prevention and treatment. We at Data Lake are aware of the challenges of a major AI adoption in healthcare, but also embrace the current developments, conscious that our medical data donation ecosystem has the ability to provide critical support for AI training. Keep an eye out for more from us on these topics!
