Data Lake was started by two medical doctors and entrepreneurs – Ligia Kornowska and Wojciech Sierocki, both Forbes 30 under 30 in December 2020
2021
The initial capital
The initial capital was obtained through the European Union funding. The company first product was a consent management system for the Donate Your Data Foundation, co-created at that time by more than 30 different industry organizations. Along with the Donate Your Data Foundation. At this stage, the first data donation campaigns were launched, attracting over 20 thousand data donors.
2022
Recognized by
Data Lake took part as the technology provider in the first major data donation project aiming at researching patient’s pathways in breast cancer, recognized by the Polish National Medical Research Agency and founded by a pharmaceutical sponsor. In that project, our team contracted 5 public and private institutions, collected over 30 thousand consents and delivered hundreds of longitudinal, complete datasets for analysis.
2023
Leaders of Decentralized Science
Data Lake started working with further life sciences partners and patient organizations to carry out successful projects in the registry science, Patient Support Programs and preselection to clinical trials. Thanks to this, Data Lake became one of the leaders of the Decentralized Science movement, promoting community and patient involvement in scientific research as well as bringing attention to neglected areas of research and diseases.
2024
Custom technology
Data Lake further developed its custom technology for managing patient recruitment and consents for research, marketing and medical procedures. The technology is based on Data Lake’s own blockchain, the Data Lake Chain, which is a roll-up build on top of Arbitrum Orbit tech stack.
