At Data Lake we think that unlocking consents is the key to unlocking medical research. Learn more about The Data Lake Ecosystem Playbook!

Consents – a cornerstone of medical research

At Data Lake we talk a lot about consents. It’s because we stand for more transparent and fair use of medical data for research. To achieve this, we focused on the first step in the process, that is building tools for recruiting patients and giving them control over their consents.

A patient consenting for a medical experiment or a retrospective study is one of the most basic processes in almost every human subject research. Yet, this process is surprisingly messy and lacks good tools for a large-scale adoption.

For this reason many healthcare institutions do not gather and analyze large quantities of medical data, for a simple lack of a good, scalable consent collection and management tool.

We think that unlocking consents is the key to unlocking medical research.

We want to grow this infrastructure as a sustainable, revenue-generating model for healthcare providers, to reach more patients, to be able to deliver more valuable research at the end of the pipeline.

Our playbook going forward

  1. Launch the Mainnet

  2. The Data Lake Chain Mainnet is set to launch on Monday, 30 September, marking the transition from our Mokotow Testnet to a fully functional mainnet. This is the first step in expanding our ecosystem to accommodate large-scale consent management and data operations. With this launch, the $LAKE token will become the fuel of the ecosystem, and bridging tokens to the mainnet will also be available.

  3. Build our unique value proposition

  4. Our strength as Data Lake lies with our deep connections with the healthcare industry, understanding its needs and limitations. In the subsequent months after the Chain launch, Data Lake will focus on growing the enterprise adoption of our infrastructure.

More healthcare clients using our chain leads to more nodes, more security, more usage of the network, more demand for the LAKE token.

The adoption in healthcare should also be a powerful argument for any DeSci builder to use the Data Lake Chain instead of other solutions.

  5. Become a go-to ecosystem for health and science

  6. Once the Data Lake Chain is established within the healthcare space, we will switch our focus from healthcare adoption to growing our presence in the web3 space, for example by conferences, hackathons, builder grants and more, in line with the Web3 Sustainability Loop.

Keep an Eye Out

With the support of our partners, including Arbitrum, and a growing ecosystem of institutions, researchers, and innovators, we are set to transform the way consent management is applied to save lives and advance science.

Stay tuned for the official launch of Data Lake Chain and join us as we build the future of decentralized science.

From Protocol to People: Data Lake’s Community Chapter 🌊

Since day one, Data Lake has been about more than technology. It has been about trust, transparency, and empowering people to take an active role in shaping the future of science. We built the Data Lake Application on Arbitrum so that every patient consent is stored on-chain with a complete audit trail – a level of accountability rarely seen in healthcare. We launched LAKE.fun, the world’s first fully decentralized patient recruitment platform, where people around the globe can contribute to research projects and get rewarded transparently in $LAKE. We ran Snapshot votes to ensure that key decisions, like research reward pools, were made by the community. And we even launched a marketing bounty program, proving that our growth belongs to everyone, not just the core team. This foundation has always been about decentralization. About people. About you. 🔓 Open-Sourcing Our Smart Contracts We believe that true trust requires open infrastructure. That’s why we are open-sourcing our consents smart contracts under the Digital Public Good (DPG) framework. The DPG framework, developed by the UN and international partners, is a global standard that recognizes technologies which: ✅ Are open source ✅ Protect privacy ✅ Advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals ✅ Can

Data Lake Study Published in Diagnostics: Proving the Power of Data Donation

Big milestone for the Data Lake: our study has just been published in the peer-reviewed journal Diagnostics 🎉 The study — “Analyzing the Gaps in Breast Cancer Diagnostics in Poland—A Retrospective Observational Study in the Data Donation Model” — is one of the first peer-reviewed proofs of how patient-driven data donation can be used to uncover real-world healthcare challenges. 587 breast cancer cases analyzed  Patient data voluntarily donated to power the research  Key finding: while first oncology consultations were timely, delays of 3+ months emerged before surgery and treatment, revealing systemic gaps  In short: patients shared their data → researchers with the help of Data Lake mapped delays → policymakers now have evidence to fix bottlenecks.   Why It Matters for Data Lake 🌊 This is more than an academic milestone. It’s validation of the data donation model we’ve been building since day one, where we proven: Patients are willing to share their data for science, provided adequate safety and trust measures are in place. It’s possible to get access to large patient populations (20k+ data donors) working with decentralized science tools, outside of traditional academia and public research financing. Time for citizen scientists to shine! Real-world data studies can
